Today’s Evangelicals: Politics and Freedom
The Republican Presidential nomination caucuses are in full force. A high percentage of Americans contend that America will not survive the liberal holocaust being brought upon us by President Obama, unless the moral and political principles of the Founding Fathers as set forth in the Declaration, the Constitution, and in their Christian faith, are reaffirmed in our national leaders. Short of that, they contend that America’s citizens, including fathers, mothers, children – could perish under tyranny.
Why? On what basis?
I asked a Bible scholar friend, H. Edward Rowe, DD, to list some of the civilizations which had fallen; then explain what they had in common which caused them to fall. Here are the ones he listed:
- EGYPT
- BABYLON
- PERSIA
- HEBREWS AFTER DAVID AND SOLOMON
- GREECE
- CARTHAGINIANS
- ROME
- AZTECS
- MAYANS
- ASSYRIANS
- HITTITES
- PHOENICIANS
- SUMERIANS
- HAN CHINA
- MINOANS
- INCAS
- MONGOLIANS
Reasons in common for their fall:
“The fallen civilizations were doomed from the beginning of their existence due to the worship of gods whittled out of wood or chiseled out of stone, which had no wisdom to impart in matters related to governance. Human sacrifices could not take away sin and redeem the fallen soul. Such commands as “love God and love your neighbor” did not exist. They were dog-eat-dog societies where the biggest man with the biggest stick subjugated populations and human enslavement was universal. The purpose of military expeditions was to plunder treasuries, liquidate the aged and infirm, and kidnap strong men and beautiful women to use as slaves. At a later stage the pantheon of gods in the Grecian, Roman and Persian empires did not exist beyond the depraved imaginations of men. Loyalty to gods whose temples were brothels accomplished nothing constructive in terms of imparting civic wisdom. The fallen civilizations were built on sand and they could not stand. Not until Jesus Christ came to Earth could there come into existence a city and a nation that has foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God.”
- See our prior post America – Our Sacred Trust. It opens with a discourse sub-titled “The history of the world is the history of a gigantic slaughter bench”. It recounts the numbers of people who died in the 20th century, alone, under the siege of godless Marxism, communism and Nazism. This is why Christians of America contend that as goes the church, so goes the nation.
