Libertarian presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul has repeatedly downplayed the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran, and ignored the threats of the Islamic Republic’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to use nuclear-armed missiles against the United States and in the destruction of Israel. Dr. Paul contends that America’s military defense appropriations should be cut back, and diplomatic negotiations should substitute.
That was also British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s thinking in his negotiations and peace pact with Hitler, which cost 50,000,000 men, women and children their lives, and genocide of the Jews. Churchill had sounded the alarm in every way he could, but the British people, still suffering from WWI, were against war, as is Ron Paul, and wanted a negotiated peace, as does Ron Paul.
In the Republican national debates, Ron Paul rationalizes that America’s military costs are so massive that cutting our defenses and our activities as “policeman of the world” would save a lot of money and help get our crippled national economy back onto its feet.
It appears to me that Ron Paul is suffering from an acute case of denial of reality, just as was Neville Chamberlain. There is no doubt that Ron Paul is a virtuous man and that he wishes the very best for America, as did Chamberlain for England. When Churchill wrote his classic book The Gathering Storm in which he reflected upon the question, “How could it have happened?” he said “The malice of the wicked was reinforced by the weakness of the virtuous”. The British were a virtuous, cultured people. They were against war.
In order to understand Ron Paul and his libertarians it is necessary to be grounded in certain aspects of reality as it pertains to America’s God-given freedoms and our incomparable history. Therefore, I recommend you read the following four of my prior posted essays (immediately below this one):
(1) America – Our Sacred Trust This discourse on our country was a thriller to write as I trust it will be for you to read. It holds no punches in speaking of the world as a slaughter bench and unbridled man’s irresistible penchant to enslave or kill his fellow man. That is, what we must defend, what we can expect if we ever do, and why never to let down our guard;
(2) The Clergy and the Decline of American Christianity The neutralized entertainment-based American clergy are turning the other cheek and leading their people to enslavement-by-default, a parallel tract with Hitler’s Nazi Germany;
(3) What If Obama Is A Dedicated Marxist? The consequences to our children and future generations is too horrible to fully contemplate. We cannot afford to let down our guard.
(4) Are Socialism And Christianity Reconcilable? Marx, Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Pot Pol were all socialists. Today the media is giving much favorable treatment to socialism. Most of the conservative open-phone radio broadcasters such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Savage, Beck … are tagging President Obama as socialist/Marxist. They tag Iran’s Ahmadinejad as a “madman” whose threats of nuclear incinration we should take seriously.
CONCLUSION: Given that Ron Paul, like Neville Chamberlain, wants peace and a good economy, read and study the four essays, above, then scroll down the right sidebar and choose other applicable essays to help you in deciding what a President Ron Paul could mean to America. Is it worth the chance?
