As the Iowa caucuses race upon us the candidates are hurling all manner of charges against each other, perhaps the most relentless of them by Michelle Bachman focusing on the “foreign policy incompetence” of Ron Paul. In my post last week, “How to Decide On Ron Paul” this author highlighted some of those concerns and asked whether Ron Paul is not the Neville Chamberlain of our time.
On December 27, Newsmax.com joined the outcry and published an editorial declaring Ron Paul to be “dangerous”. For your consideration, here are a few excerpts:
“Putting aside for a moment Mr. Paul’s leftist policies on a variety of social issues ranging from his unwavering support for…’gay rights’ – to include open homosexuality in the military – to advocacy for across-the-board legalization of illicit drugs, Mr. Paul demonstrated that he has a dangerous, fundamental misunderstanding of the threat posed to every American citizen by radical Islam. This alone disqualifies him for serious consideration as our future Commander in Chief.”
Is Ron Paul “Left” of Obama?
During the [Presidential] debate, moderator Bret Baier asked Mr. Paul: “Many Middle East experts now say Iran may be less than one year away from getting a nuclear weapon. …Even if you had solid intelligence that Iran was in fact going to get a nuclear weapon, President Paul would remove the U.S. sanctions on Iran – including those added by the Obama administration. So, to be clear, GOP nominee Paul would be running left of President Obama on Iran?”
FOR READER’S CONSIDERATION: Mr. Paul has contended that even if Iran gets a nuclear bomb and can deliver it against Israel or the United States, Iran will not be a serious threat to the United States. What if Iran opts for the seeming irrational choice to attack an American city and incinerate hundreds of thousands of citizens? Can we take that chance with a President Ron Paul? For description of that upcoming capability through Obama’s military disarmament of the United States, see my last post: Progress Report on Obama’s Disarming America’s Military.
